    How to steer the operator

    3 min read

Use the Steer copilot to adjust targeting, messaging, and priorities in plain language.

    What steering is

Steering is how you set the operator's direction without touching settings or filters. You describe what you want in plain language, and the operator translates that into changes to who it targets, how it writes, and what it prioritizes next.

Think of it as giving feedback to a teammate. You do not need to know the exact field to edit. You say what matters, and the operator carries that intent into the work it does on your behalf.

    When to steer

Steer whenever the work drifts from what you actually want. If the prospects look off, the messaging feels wrong for your audience, or your priorities have shifted, a short directive is usually faster than reconfiguring anything by hand.

You can steer at any time. The operator does not stop and wait for instructions, so steering is most useful as a steady stream of small corrections rather than one big setup step.

    Examples of good steers

Targeting: focus on fintech companies, or stop reaching out to agencies. Messaging: be more direct, lead with the integration angle, keep it shorter. Priorities: pause cold outreach this week, or lean into accounts that recently raised.

Specific is better than vague. A directive that names an audience, a tone, or a tradeoff gives the operator a clear edge to act on.

How steers flow into the next cycle

Each directive becomes part of the context the operator reads at the start of every cycle. It shapes which prospects get sourced, how copy is written, and where effort goes, so a steer you give today carries forward until you change or replace it.
