    LaunchSurface vs Clay

Every statement about Clay on this page is quoted or paraphrased from a public source, linked and dated. Statements about LaunchSurface describe what the product does as built.

What is the difference between LaunchSurface and Clay?

Clay is best known for waterfall enrichment: to find a work email it checks providers such as Prospeo, DropContact, Datagma, Hunter and PeopleDataLabs in turn. LaunchSurface treats enrichment as one step inside an autonomous operator. It prefers the contact providers that measured about 2¢ per contact in production, keeps People Data Labs, measured at about 28¢ a lookup, out of the default path, and caches results across cycles. It then writes the sequence, sends it from your mailbox and reads the replies itself. Clay gives you data to build with; LaunchSurface uses the data to run the outbound.

    ~2¢
Median enrichment cost per contactable prospect (range 1.6¢ to 4.6¢), the dominant variable cost in a LaunchSurface cycle.

    0 for an open
In Operator's experiments a reply scores 1, a click 0.25 and an open nothing. Bounces and complaints count against the variant.

    What LaunchSurface does

    Where does LaunchSurface work differently?

Enrichment is a step, not the product

Contact enrichment is one step in a cycle that ends in a sent email, so the data feeds outreach rather than a spreadsheet.

Cost is metered and marked up openly

Usage beyond your plan is debited from a prepaid wallet at cost plus 60%, and a cycle stops when the wallet or your cap cannot cover the next action.

    Outreach included

Sequences are written per prospect and sent from your own mailbox through a send gate with per-prospect and per-inbox caps.

    FAQ

    The details, answered.

    Is LaunchSurface a Clay alternative?

If you use Clay to feed an outbound motion you would rather not run yourself, LaunchSurface covers the enrichment and the outreach. If you build custom data workflows for many purposes, Clay is a toolkit for that and LaunchSurface is not.

Can I choose LaunchSurface's data providers?

No. The waterfall is managed for you, so you do not configure providers or manage separate data credits.
